Reminder: Veggietales Pirates Movie Saturday!

The Game Plan. We will meet in the foyer at the Majestic Theater at 9:00am. We'll count everyone and collect any money from people who have not paid yet. As we move into the theater area, the pop and popcorn will be lined up on the counter for us to pick up. If you want to purchase anything extra, you'll have to purchase it at the cash register. Once we are in the theater, Pastor Dewey will lead in the wave! (Maybe :)) The movie will start at 9:30am. If you have not signed up and would like to go, just show up and join us! There are 229 seats in the theater and we had around 150 signed up so we have plenty of room! What a rowdy bunch this is going to be! Pastor Brian

Look Vertical

The American culture advertises by creating "poster-people" to sell their products and ideas. Christianity only has one qualified "poster-person". It's not Billy Graham! Christians are not qualified to be "poster-people" for the Christian faith, because we are in a process of becoming what we are in Christ. We are light, but we are not the Light of the World. The Apostle Paul writes, in Philippians chapter three, that no Christian is "perfect" (an arrived or finished product), but all Christians are "perfect". God sees this spiritual reality in believers, but human beings are blind to this Truth. We only know of this Truth, because it is revealed in God's Word.

When people look "horizontally" at professed Christians, it is probable that they perceive weakness, flaws, infirmities, inconsistencies, hypocrisy... and conclude that Christianity is not any better than any other religion. It's possible that when people look "horizontally" at other religions they see better "poster-people" to sell that religion. For example, Gandhi for Hinduism, or their Mormon neighbor. Yet, can any human see the heart or spirit of a person?

Christianity's "poster-person" is Jesus Christ. To fix your eyes on any human being is to distort the Truth of who God is and the way He desires to be known. God is only known through Jesus Christ! Fellowship with God is only possible through Jesus Christ. So... Look Vertical!

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" Hebrews 12:2.

What's going on in the Teen Ministry

I am excited to report what’s happening in the youth group this week. Last night (Wednesday) we had our “Real Rock” CafĂ©, that’s when the teens gather in small groups around tables and talk, share and grow. Well, the night started out with sharing our ‘Dreams’. (By the way, do you know God has a dream for you?) Then, I asked Troy Todd to share his testimony; how God has worked in him. Troy opened up and shared how God lead and protected him through out his life. (You should ask him to share his story with you.) As Troy told me later, all 29 young people were listening, a great accomplishment! I believe though sharing God’s Word, lives were touched and changed. A young man, by the name of Wes Butler, even accepted the Lord Jesus into his life. (Happy Spiritual B-Day!!!) I have a strong feeling; other youth had a meaningful connection with God, because of Troy’s sharing. Continue with us in prayer for the moving of the Holy Spirit in our Youth Group, God has Big Plans for them!
