Look Vertical

The American culture advertises by creating "poster-people" to sell their products and ideas. Christianity only has one qualified "poster-person". It's not Billy Graham! Christians are not qualified to be "poster-people" for the Christian faith, because we are in a process of becoming what we are in Christ. We are light, but we are not the Light of the World. The Apostle Paul writes, in Philippians chapter three, that no Christian is "perfect" (an arrived or finished product), but all Christians are "perfect". God sees this spiritual reality in believers, but human beings are blind to this Truth. We only know of this Truth, because it is revealed in God's Word.

When people look "horizontally" at professed Christians, it is probable that they perceive weakness, flaws, infirmities, inconsistencies, hypocrisy... and conclude that Christianity is not any better than any other religion. It's possible that when people look "horizontally" at other religions they see better "poster-people" to sell that religion. For example, Gandhi for Hinduism, or their Mormon neighbor. Yet, can any human see the heart or spirit of a person?

Christianity's "poster-person" is Jesus Christ. To fix your eyes on any human being is to distort the Truth of who God is and the way He desires to be known. God is only known through Jesus Christ! Fellowship with God is only possible through Jesus Christ. So... Look Vertical!

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God" Hebrews 12:2.
