Just How Early is Easter in 2008?

A once in a lifetime experience!

Easter is always the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20 in 2008].

1. FIRST, the Spring Equinox

2….THEN the first Full Moon that follows.

3….FINALLY, the first Sunday following = EASTER SUNDAY!

Check this out! This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (those 95+). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier!

Here’s the facts:
(1) The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913.
(2) The next time it will be a day earlier (March 22), will be in the 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

Upcoming Events

March 7th & 8th- Teen District Main Event
4:00pm on the 7th begins Opening Service. There will be Athletics, quizzing, NYI convention and much more!
10:00pm begins the late night events at Caldwell YMCA.
8:00am on the 8th begins with talent, athletics, quizzing and more. 3:00pm is the scheduled closing service with awards.
March 9th- Puppet Ministry Fundraiser Dinner
Following 3rd service in the sanctuary. Mexican meal raising funds for the new teen puppet ministry.

Meeting in Big City following the dinner. Sign up with Pastor Eric.
March 13th- Board Meeting
6:30pm in Pastor Eric's office.
March 15th- Kids Quiz Meet
8:30am at the Nampa Bethel Church of the Nazarene. This is their final meet of the year.
- Family Movie Night
6:00pm in the Sanctuary. We will be playing "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe". All our welcome to attend. Bring your own drinks and a snack to share.

What's Happening in the Teen Ministry?

This weekend, the Kuna-Naz youth group is headed off to Main Event at NNU. It will be an exciting time for our quizzers, Jr. High basketball team and dodge ball team. Kuna has 19 youth and several adult sponsors going to represent our Church. Even though the event had to find alternative gyms to play in, due to the fact there was a small fire in one of the weight rooms, the games will go on! Both quiz teams have a great opportunity to do very well in competition; and our athletic teams will have a great time playing against other churches around the district. But one of the most important things happening at Main Event is the occasion to grow spiritually. On Friday around 4pm the district NYI is bring in Marty Tadman to speak to the area youth, I am very eager to hear him. Please be in prayer for our youth and this district event, God is on the move and we need to move with Him.

What's Happening in the Kids Ministry?

We've been on the road to the cross in Big City. This week we'll be looking at the Big Finale where Jesus dies and the curtain in the Holy of Holies is torn giving us direct access to God. Wow! What a moment in history! Don't miss this story! Also, during Big City Station we'll be having our Mission Lesson and the Big Store! It's a double-header!

Things are so busy right now in the children's ministry- a very good busy.

2. We had 20 kids say they wanted to be baptized. Baptism Sunday is on April 6th. Click here for the names and article. It is not too late to add your name to the list.


3. Saturday, March 15th, is the last kids quiz meet at Nampa Bethel. Go and support our kids as they answer questions from the whole book of Genesis!


4. Saturday, March 15th, is also the Family Movie Night. At 6:00pm at the church, we will be showing the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. What a great time of year to reflect on the resurrection that is portrayed so well in this movie. Bring your own drinks and bring snacks to share.


5. Sunday, March 16th, at 6:00pm, is our next Children's Ministry Meeting.


6. Sunday, March 23rd is Easter and the Easter Egg Hunt. We will also have some kids on the adult worship team that Sunday. If your child is interested, please let me know.


7. Sunday, April 6th, is the Baptism Sunday.


8. Sunday, April 6th, is also the beginning of a 12 week class for Club57. If you are unfamiliar with Club57, you are not alone. It is a new ministry. Find out about it here.
