HOLD TO THE TRADITIONS!

The Apostle Paul wrote the Thessalonian Christians these words: "So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us" (2 Thess. 2:15). The "traditions" we are to "hold" Paul received from Jesus (read Galatians 1:11-12). Thus, as Christians we "stand firm" and "hold" to the "traditions" of Jesus. Jesus' "traditions" have been written down by inspiration of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament (read John 14:26 & 2 Timothy 3:16). If Christians in 2008 are going to "stand firm" and "hold to the traditions" of Jesus, we must get a grasp on the New Testament Scriptures. As Paul taught the Thessalonians: "...or by letter from us" (2 Thess. 2:15b). What must one do to get a grasp on the Bible? Here are six ways to grasp the Bible that you must discipline yourself to do:

1. Listen to Bible Preaching; 2. Read the Bible; 3. Study your Bible; 4. Memorize Scripture; 5. Meditate on Scripture & 6. Apply the Bible to your life.

The next six weeks I'll elaborate on each of these ways to grasp your Bible. "Your word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against You" (Psalm 119:11).

A Loving Reminder,

Pastor Eric

What is going on in the Kids Ministry

Happy Mother's Day! This Sunday will be a great day for moms and kids. During Activity Stations in Big City, we will be finishing up a Mother's Day craft that all the moms are going to love! The game station will be outside because the weather is supposed to be nice. If it is a little cool in the morning, please bring a jacket.
Have you ever wondered how to know what God's will was for your life? During Big City we will be working through this topic. In our story this week in Numbers 9:15-23, the Israelites followed a pillar of cloud or fire to know where God wanted them to be. How do we know what God's plans for us are today? We'll answer that question. God still gives direction in our life.
This Tuesday is a special Kids Mission Night for our district church at Valley Shepherd (the new Nazarene church south of Meridian). Everyone is invited! It will start at 7:00pm and will feature some missionaries from France. There will also be an adult service with a missions emphasis at the same time. It should be a great event for the whole family. Hope you make it!
